The Back to Nature Wedding Trend

Though there have certainly been some very beautiful weddings in the past, which had very little tie to nature, there simply is no way to compete with Mother Nature.  She has executed the very best design plans ever known, so it is no wonder that so many brides, in 2015, are taking her lead.

Nature-inspired weddings, and those that celebrate the local products are becoming increasingly popular.  Fish pulled from the local bodies of water are served as main dishes.  Fresh fruit, hand-picked from local farms are used to adorn otherwise simplistic cakes.  And, the decorations are more eco-friendly than ever before, often including pieces found in nature, such as twigs and pinecones.

Though it is not always possible to host your wedding in an open field or in a centuries-old barn, you can certainly bring a love of nature to a local wedding venue.

Wild Flower Bouquets Very likely the most common way of working nature into a wedding ceremony is to bring as many flowers as possible to the wedding venue.  Want to keep it eco-friendly?  Carry a living bouquet using burlap or other similar material to wrap the root ball.  Give out living favors that can either be kept in the home or planted in an outdoor garden.

Floral Crown Don’t forget your headdress either, when choosing flowers.  Rather than a veil, crown, or clip, consider a very beautiful and simple floral crown.  These are often made by weaving vinery or thin twigs, with flowers tucked in.

Twigs and Branches Speaking of twigs, they make a beautiful element for the natural wedding.  You can use them as part of your napkin rings, in your centerpieces, in the bridesmaids’ bouquets, and elsewhere to bring the feel of nature to the wedding venue.  Branches or small logs are also very handy.  They can be used as a base for the centerpieces, to hold seating assignment cards, or carved out to hold glass vases or jar candles.

Seeds and Stones If you don’t want to hand out living plants as guest favors, consider seed packets.  And, you can use small stones, river rock, and pebbles to fill the bottoms of vases, sprinkled around table centerpieces, or even to line the aisle.
