Now, THAT is a Great Party Theme…

If you are throwing a party –whether it is for a family reunion, to celebrate an engagement, or wish someone a happy birthday, or to get your coworkers out of the office for a bit – you should consider a theme.  While there will undoubtedly be the occasional naysayer, the majority of people enjoy an excuse to dress up and have some fun.  If you are still in the process of planning, consider these awesome party themes.

The Decades Dance If you are attempting to be original, then this may not be the best bet for your party, but this theme is a classic because it works so well.  People are able to draw on inspiration from the past, and very often have the stuff they need to pull of the look already hanging in the closet.  The best part is that this theme makes the music selection a breeze, because you can select songs from all of the past eras without worrying about offending anyone’s taste.

Partiers Gone Broke So it wasn’t a time to party, but calling on the Great Depression era for inspiration does make a good theme.  Encourage all of the guests in attendance to wear an outfit assembled for ten dollars or less.  No cheating!  Choose music from the time period (though you may want to throw in some modern selections as well) and boogey your way right out of those beater sneakers.

Sinners Take to the Stage Everyone is familiar with the seven deadly sins, so play them up with a little costume fun.  Everyone must choose their favorite sins and dress the part for a big bash that promises to include gluttony and perhaps a little lust as well.

School Days Whether the teacher with the glasses, bun and ruler, or the little school girl, there are certainly a lot of school-inspired looks that can rock the dance floor.  Keep the theme alive with songs like ‘School’s Out for Summer,’ and The Jackson 5’s ‘ABC’.
