Make Your Next Family Reunion a Smashing Success

Family reunions can be great experiences, and the summer is a wonderful season for bringing several generations together.  This is a great way to introduce the youngest to the oldest, and to make new connections within the family tree.  As you plan your party, we suggest you consider these wonderful ideas.

Build Your Own Burger Bar Feeding so many people can be a challenge, but with a burger bar, you can be sure that everyone gets something that they like.  Set it up beside a salad bar and you have a whole meal read for the eating.  Be sure to include toppings including catchup, mustard, mayonnaise, relish, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, but also think outside the box.  Cooked bacon, mushrooms and peppers, for instance, could be good fits.  And, don’t forget the people who don’t eat hamburger.  Have a selection or turkey burgers and veggie burgers on hand as well.

Family Scholarship Program A family reunion is the perfect place to support the younger generation.  Host an auction where each family member brings something no longer used.  Put these items together and host a silent auction, with all proceeds going to the family scholarship fund.

Old Fashioned Soda and Candy Remember that family reunions are a celebration of the past and present, so bring a bit of the old times to the new generation by serving old fashioned pops and old skool candy.  All of this can now be found with relative ease via online vendors.

Vintage Photo Shoot Photo booths are becoming common wedding inclusions, but they are just as effective at other parties.  To keep with the family reunion theme, consider props and backdrops that have a vintage feel, and set cameras up to take sepia-toned photos.  If you have a photographer on hand to take the photos and make the prints onsite, you can give away very meaningful souvenirs to all in attendance.
