Get Your Kids Moving With a Dance Party

Kids love to move.  You just have to give them inspiration to do so, and ac dance party can be just the thing.  Bring friends and family members together for a night of good food and great music.  There are a number of ways that you can put together a kids dance party, so consider these wonderful ideas to get your plans rolling.

Select a Dance Related Theme If you make the theme dance related, the objective of the party will be immediately clear.  It might be a ballerina’s ball or disco day, but whatever the theme you choose, be sure that it directly relates to boogying on the dance floor.

Make Your Favors Theme Appropriate It is a nice gesture to hand out small gifts to kids who attend a party.  You can do more with your favors if you consider the theme that you have in mind.  Consider making playlists with the children in mind and create a CD copy for each guest.  Or, for the ballet party, you might hand out decorative bun covers for each girl.

Props Kids are even more apt to take to the dance floor if they have props to move with.  Hula hoops, sunglasses, streamers, pom-poms, or articles of dress up clothing can be perfect for this purpose.  You could even fill a chest with a variety of items like these and let the kids set the scene for themselves.

Bring on the Video Games Before you leave this blog post in a huff, we are not proposing that you pull up the controllers and the couch, but rather that you set up a large screen and an interactive dance battle game for those who would like to put their dance moves to the test.

DJ While a playlist might be fine, a DJ is generally good at choosing the best music for the crowd, and also experienced at getting reluctant dancers to the floor.
