Fun and Funky Ideas for a Summer Baby Shower

Baby showers have earned a bad name with many audiences, as events that are filled with awkward games and endless hours of present opening.  However, you can have your cake and eat it too, if you think outside the box when planning your baby shower.

Fruit Pops in Blue or Pink If you are hosting this event in the summer, you will want to ensure that your guests are kept cool and comfortable.  While air conditioning and fans can go a long way toward that goal, you might also consider serving frozen drinks and cold treats that will keep everyone cool.  We particularly like the idea of frozen fruit pops – blueberries for the unborn boy, strawberries for the expected little girl, or an assortment of fruits for those who won’t know the sex of the baby until birth.

Color-Coded Foods Keeping on the same concept, you could color code all of your foods, and slowly disperse them as hors d’oeuvres to keep the party going.  Even if you don’t choose the pink and blue foods to serve on platters, you could definitely stick with the baby theme by serving mini foods.

Rub Out Pregnancy Aches Rather than playing the games that receive mixed reviews, treat your guests to something special.  Pedicures, manicures, and massages have proven great ways to engage friends and families at baby showers. The added bonus is that the massage will undoubtedly feel good when eight or nine months pregnant.

Design Your Own Onesie If you invest in some transfer paper, white onesies, and maybe even an assortment of stencils, you can invite guests to create their very own onesie designs, which can then be transferred onto the actual clothes after the party.  Your child will have the most unique patterns ever seen.
