The holidays are wonderful, birthdays are both scary and good reasons to celebrate, but these events don’t occur often enough and are often swallowed up in a wide array of other responsibilities. If you need a good reason to party and you find yourself with time to plan a great gathering, then consider these wonderful themes.
The Pink Ribbon Party This is just one example, but raising money for a great charity is always a good reason to bring people together. You don’t have to ask for large donations, and you can offer a plate of food and a glass of wine in return for the money offered up. Not only do you get to have a night of fun, but you are doing it for a good cause.
Stock the Bar Party Need to stock your bar at home? Ask everyone to come out for a night of fun, but ask them to bring a bottle of booze along. With each person donating a bottle, your bar will quickly fill (and the night will undoubtedly be interesting).
Because You All Deserve a Gift Party Everyone needs a present now and then, so do a favorites party, where everyone brings five ‘somethings-special’. These should be items that they treasure, but that are also inexpensive. For instance, a favorite brand of chapstick, a particular type of soda, a favorite candy bar, or other such items. All of these are placed in a bag, and each time someone’s name is drawn, he or she gets to take a grab out of the bag.
Clothing Swap Closet too full? That’s a great reason to have a party. Ask each person to bring two or three (or more) items of clothing no longer worn to be swapped.
Wine and Cheese Party Each party attendee should bring a bottle of wine and an unusual block of cheese for a night of taste testing.
Crock Pot Cook-Off Who has the best meal to offer up? Taste test, judge, and then swap the recipes.
New Neighbor Welcome Party Want to welcome a new member to your group, or a new neighbor? Plan a party. It’s a great excuse to have fun and usher in a potential friend.
